I lied. This one’s my favorite smoothie right now. It’s a strawberry smoothie without a banana and it tastes like a delicious strawberry dream.
“WTF are you talking about?”
You’re right. But it does.
It’s like a strawberry shake, but without all the crap in there. No, it’s a strawberry slushy smoothie shake.
I know, I know. I just posted the peach smoothie recipe, but this one.
I think it’s the first, okay second time I can honestly say I love a smoothie. Not because it’s healthy and makes me feel “incredible”. It does, but that’s not the point.
The point is that my tastebuds LOVE this smoothie.
The texture is super smooth and the smell, that smell is the best thing you can ask for on a hot summer day. Or any day.
I discovered this smoothie yesterday when I was about to make my peach smoothie. It was so damn hot and I didn’t have any ice or frozen peaches, but I always keep a bag of frozen strawberries in the freezer. I thought, okay they won’t do that much damage to this already perfect smoothie.
So I added a few strawberries, some cinnamon and felt bad I didn’t put any greens in there, so I added a little bit of parsley.
I immediately froze some peaches for next time.
Today in the morning, I made it again.
But this time I had the frozen peaches, used more frozen strawberries, added a little bit water to blend and the texture was like a slushy. Like a strawberry shake/slushy.
A little bit of a brain freeze, but so worth it.
Here’s how you make this strawberry slushy smoothie with peaches
First and most important: slice peaches and freeze in bags overnight. You can also buy frozen peaches, but they’re in season right now, so I used fresh ones.
As for the strawberries I had bought a bag of frozen strawberries – love them for smoothies!
Then you need yogurt or something yogurt-like if you don’t eat dairy. Like vegan yogurt and I think coconut cream will also work.
So you put the frozen peaches (1 peach), the strawberries (2/3 cup) and 1 Tbsp yogurt in your blender. Then you juice an orange and add the orange juice to your blender as well. Words can’t explain how much I love oranges in smoothies or cocktails, but pineapple might work as well here if you have some intolerance to oranges.
Finally you add a tsp of cinnamon. Close and blend.
If your blender doesn’t blend this mixture easily, add some nut milk or water. But just a little bit. Really probably around 1/4 cup.
Then you try it and you’re so so happy.
Here’s the printable recipe.
A delicious strawberry smoothie with peaches and without banana! It tastes like a strawberry shake – so good!
1/2-2/3 cup frozen strawberries
1 tbsp yogurt
1 tsp cinnamon
1 orange, juiced
some parsley (optional)
Chia to top
Chop peaches or use frozen ones – around 1 cup. Put all ingredients except chia seeds in your blender, blend until smooth.
If you’re having a hard time blending the mixture, add some water or nut milk of your choice (it might happen if you use both – frozen berries and frozen peaches).
Top with chia seeds and some fruit chunks and enjoy immediately.
I really recommend using frozen berries and peaches – makes a very nice, slushy-like texture. Instead of yogurt you can use vegan yogurt or coconut cream.
